A Photo Diary of a Mother
News on view
Unit 155
aura

The artist: Sarah Wang
Venue: Aura Visual Art
At midnight in late autumn of 2022, a mother from Shanghai landed on PEI, an island she knew nothing about, with her 11-year old son and four big suit cases.
With curiosity and uneasiness, she began with resolve to develop her new life here. She had been a curator, a researcher of art history and an artist. Not satisfied with being a passive onlooker from ‘away,' with a Leica in her hand she took photos and recorded her new life. She took photos everywhere she went. While on her way to pick up her son from school , on her excursion with her kind neighbor friends, or strolling through the parks, many photos were taken. She found her own path that led her into this new culture and society.
Early this autumn, she opens her own art gallery and art store in Charlottetown. The name for the opening exhibition of the gallery is: Days on the Island—— a photo diary of a mother.
